How are your hormones?

To celebrate Womens Health Week, lets celebrate the basis of what makes women ... well women 💃🏻

It’s the complex, intrique, uniquely created monthly cycle that creates rhythm to our physical functions.

So are your hormones healthy? Or how do you know? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Each month your hormones rise and fall to achieve ovulation and menstruation.

There are many symptoms such as pain, mood swings, breast tenderness, cramping, food cravings, appetite changes that are perceived as ‘normal monthly processes’ that are in fact not normal at all

See below for basic recommendations for how you can support your natural hormonal cycles. These suggestions are general only in nature but create a basis of support for hormone production, elimination and utilisation.

F I B R E - fundamental to the removal of waste and hormone excess from the body. Aim for 30g per day.

C A R B O H Y D R A T E S - Essential for ovulation you can be consuming enough calories but if you’re not consuming sufficient carbohydrates your cycles can shut down. Complex carbohydrates such as rice, quinoa, sweet potato or berries are essential to create happy hormones

Z I N C - we require zinc for hormone production and metabolism. Regularly consume a variety of nuts and seeds, oysters and legumes to boost your zinc dietary zinc intake.

M A G N E S I U M - Man do we love magnesium for happy hormones. There are many forms of magnesium so speak to a qualified practitioner about which might be right for you. In the correct form, magnesium supports activity of your nervous system resulting in improved anxiety, less cortisol and a better capacity to cope with stress. Reduced stress can in turn have positive effects on your menstrual cycle, PMS, period pain, energy and much more.

If you have questions about your cycle, head over and book an appointment to speak to a qualified practitioner. GG x
