Part ✌🏼 are supplements just expensive pee? ⠀

We had such a great response from our first post that we thought we’d elaborate more on how you can make sure you’re NOT flushing money down the toilet by buying supplements. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In our first post we discussed that the ingredients and form of nutrients in your supplements MATTER A LOT (go back and read for a refresher 😉)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The next thing to consider is, what state is your gut in to absorb these nutrients? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Inflammation, allergies, intolerance and dysbiosis can all create an inflammed, destructive environment that is NOT conducive to absorbing nutrients well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For example, one of the hallmarks for coeliac diagnosis is poor storage iron. That’s because there’s so much destruction to the microvilli of your gut that your body is not absorbing the beautiful nutrients your consuming. You’re literally starving from the inside. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Improving your gut health is essential to absorbing nutrients form supplements as well as... well your entire diet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Also, Does your body need it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Most clients we talk to have trialled ‘throwing a couple supplements” at the problem hoping for the best. However, if your body doesn’t need a particular nutrient, it’s likely to just flush it out of your system. Our bodies are smart and know which ones are needed to boost your stores and which are fully stocked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is why it’s so important to work with a qualified practitioner to customise and ensure that the bioavailability, quality and dosage is right for you and your needs! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’d recommend thinking about supplements a little bit more like medicine. They’re man-made, they have risks and benefits and not just something that should be ‘thrown’ at a problem but be prescribed by someone who knows what they’re doing to produce actual, sustainable change.
